Support to implement safe health care waste management system along with WASH improvement in 8 hospitals of 1, 2, 5 and Sudur Paschim Province

This project is supported by GIZ Nepal and the project time line runs from April 2020 to April 2021.

The project is summarized as below:

A: Rapid Assessment:

Use rapid assessment tool of HCWM and WASH developed by MD, WHO, GIZ especially focusing on management of COVID-19.

Conduct an assessment on HCWM and WASH in selected hospitals
Identify the gaps based on assessment of these hospitals
Identify quantity with specification of logistic to ease procurement process.
B: Establishment of HCWM system and WASH facilities

Design a sustainable HCWM systems and WASH facilities of selected hub hospitals.
Develop implementation/action plan sustainable HCWM system and WASH facilities for selected hub hospital with prioritization of infection prevention control measures to contain COVID-19.
Execute the implementation plan in close coordination with coordinate with this hub hospital, S2HSP and other teams for seamless support to combat the pandemic situation.
Regular follow up and monitoring of implementation and timely supply of information to MoHP, Province, S2HSP focal staff on new update and progress.
C: Capacity development:

Develop detail capacity development plan of hospitals on HCWM and WASH in COVID-19 pandemic.

Involved with MD/ DoHS, Ministry of Social Development (MoSD), Provincial Health Directorate and Provincial health training centre while delivering capacity development measures in hub hospitals.

Likewise the team supported Department of Health Services, Management Division, for support in various training related on health care waste management issues.
