GPN supported Lalitpur Metropolitan City in designing of Common Treatment Facility for managing the waste generated by 31 health institution managed by the metropolitan city office, July 2018-October 2019. The main objective of the project was to support the metropolitan city in designing a safe health care waste management system for the proper management of the health care waste generated within the city.
The major findings are summarized as bellows:
Total waste generation of 31 small health care facilities is 7.08 kg per day and the risk waste generated is 3.18kg per day.
Identification of area and detailed design of waste treatment centre along with the required bill of quantities and the cost of the operation of the facility.
A detailed operation plan (Standard Operating Procedure) of the waste treatment centre, along with the logistics and human resources required.
Preparation of vehicle mobilization plan and transportation route for the collection of waste generated from 32 facilities throughout the metropolitan city.
